Kali by Ravi Varma

About This Puzzle

• Ravi Varma's Kaali, one of the rare works by the painter with instant, violent impact, as a large portrait wooden puzzle.

Known for beautiful, quaint and evocative portrayals, Ravi Varma steps out of his zone with this Goddess Kali, worshipped as Adi Shakti and Parashakti. When the demon Daruka, granted a boon that only a female could kill him, became unstoppable, Parvati merged with Shiva's body and reappeared as Kali to slay him. Dancing with the severed head, her thirst for blood is calmed only when Shiva lies down before her; unwittingly stepping on him, she puts out her tongue as she realises the enormity of the situation.
