Renoir's joyful Two Sisters (On the Terrace), painted at Chatou in 1881, as a 1000-piece puzzle.

  • Renoir's Two Sisters (On the Terrace), one of his most popular paintings, radiant with the joy of a warm and beautiful day.

The older girl, in the female boater's blue flannel, sits against the landscape of Chatou, where Renoir spent much of spring 1881, while her younger companion seems to have just dashed into the picture. The sewing basket in the foreground evokes a palette of bright, pure pigments. Renoir (1841–1919) was a French Impressionist who kept his precision despite debilitating rheumatoid arthritis.
